Lauren Brown is as a clinician with the Public Safety Family Counseling Group, Inc., specializing in Critical Incident Stress Management. Lauren holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology from Saint Mary’s College of California and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology and criminal justice from California State University, Chico. She has been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the State of California since 2012.

Lauren is an experienced instructor providing In Service Training on CISM, Advanced Officer Training and Resiliency and Wellness, as well as Academy training on Stress and Peer Support.  She holds special training in EMDR, and Cognitive Behavior Therapy and is currently working towards becoming an approved instructor with the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation as well as obtaining credentials for Brainspotting and the Gottman Method.

Lauren is a member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists as well as a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.

In counseling individuals, Lauren uses Strength Based and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy methods of interventions that incorporate positive psychology principles. This type of therapy builds on the assumption that every individual possesses internal strengths and resourcefulness. Working collaboratively with the client, the work is focused on tapping into these internal strengths, allowing individuals to improve resilience and change his or her worldview, thus facilitating growth. Lauren assists in identifying goals that are reflective of the individual’s best hopes to return to their baseline functioning and beyond.
